Other places to visit and things to do

Local

Capel Curig

St. Julitta's Church, Capel Curig.  This is found Just a short walk from the cottage.  This church was originally known as Curig’s Chapel. St Curig is thought to have lived in the 6th-century, and was known as Curig Lwyd (Curig the Blessed) or Curig Farchog (Curig the Knight). The church was dedicated to St Julitta with the opening, in 1883, of a larger building in the village which took the name St Curig’s Church.  This building is thought to date from the 15th or early 16th century.

Betws y Coed

The shopping and cafe hub of the region. Lovely walks around the rivers starting near the old chapel of St. Michael’s Old Church or up to Llyn Elsi starting behind St Mary’s church in the centre of the village.

Castles

There are castles a plenty along the North Wales coast all set in amazing locations.  Our favourite is Beaumaris on Anglesey with a real moat. Caernarfon Castle and the town walls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a visit.  Harlech, Conwy and Penrhyn are highly recommended too.
