Beaches in Snowdonia
If you’ve had enough of the mountains or if the rain has set in, then it is always worth heading to the coast where you will find an amazing array of beautiful sandy beaches and seaside resorts where you can relax with friends and family. Take a picnic, buy an ice cream, stroll across the sands, take a swim, soak up the sun and the outstanding views.
Our favourites are:
Newborough Beach on Anglesey (50 mins) is a beautiful long sandy beach flanked by Newborough forest known for it's red squirrels and dunes. Walk to the island of Ynys Llanddwyn, a tidal island with some local history.
Llandudno and the Great Orme (40 mins by car). A splendid Victorian seaside town with a prom, a sandy beach and a tram ride up the Great Orme.
Black Rock Sands near to Porthmadog and Harlech beach can be reached in under an hour. Walk to Black Rock Sands along the coast from Borth y Gest – it is simply beautiful.
The Lleyn peninsular can be reached in just over an hour and boasts beaches such as Morfa Nefyn, Aberdaron, Porth Neiwgl (Hell's Mouth), Abersoch, Pwllheli, Criccieth.
