Betws y Coed, 5 miles from Capel Curig, has a wide selection of shops including a Spar and a Londis. Both of these will also sell firewood if you need to stoke up the wood burner. If you want a larger supermarket, there is a Coop in Llanrwst. Further afield there are large supermarkets in Bangor and Llandudno. Asda and Tesco will deliver if you like to shop online.
Local produce
Looking for some quality local produce to sample or to take home as gifts, then Lechyd da Deli in Betws y Coed or Blas ar Fwyd deli in Llanrwst are highly recommended.
Aberffraw Biscuit Company is a local biscuit company. The shortbread recipe is said to be an ancient shortbread recipe and Britain's oldest biscuit. These delightful local biscuits can be found in Lechydd da Deli in Betws y Coed.
The Bodnant Welsh Food centre also sells local produce - butcher, dairy, bakery and deli.
Outdoor Gear
Snowdonia is a mecca for outdoor gear shops. In Capel Curig itself, there is an excellent outdoor shop, Joe Brown’s (Joe Brown is a legendary climber). In Betws y Coed, there is a wide selection of outdoor gear shops including Cotswold Outdoor, Mountain Warehouse, Rohan, Stuart Cunninghams'. It is the place for retail therapy.
Further afield, there is another selection of outdoor gear shops in Llanberis.
Gift Shops
There are many gift, art and craft shops in the area with lots of choice. Browsing in Betws y Coed or Beddgelert is to be recommended.
